Who We Are

Structural Services, Inc. was founded in the fall of 2004 by Timothy L. Gettelfinger. The firm has enjoyed steady growth from modest beginnings by focusing on core technical abilities and experience combined with an honest approach toward their clients. Mr. Gettelfinger has over 25 years of professional design experience in all aspects of structural engineering. This experience enables us to consistently develop successful projects by having a clear understanding of project requirements and constraints combined with our ability to work well with other disciplines. This allows for the evolution of efficient and innovative designs while meeting established schedules and goals.

We have been able to build on past successes to maintain a growing list of repeat clients. SSI currently works for several established architectural firms in Louisville in addition to other building owners and industrial clients. We offer a full range of structural design services and for all commercial, residential, and industrial needs. For a full list of services see our services page or contact us directly.

The Arena Garage at Water Front Plaza

The new Waterfront parking garage was completed in the fall of 2010, commensurate with the opening of the Yum Center Arena. The 8 story garage has approximately 900 parking spaces, loading dock, storage building, connector building to the Waterfront Plaza and an elevated pedestrian bridge across 3rd Street to the Arena.

The garage is a cast in place post-tension concrete structure supported by auger cast piles. A combination of shear walls and moment frames are used to resist wind and seismic loads. Except for the 3rd street entrance the garage is enclosed on 4 sides by existing structures. Egress is provided from all adjoining structures. Pile cap foundations bridge existing timber pile foundations that remain from a demolished LG&E substation. The project was completed on time and under budget.
