The Arena Garage at Water Front Plaza
The new Waterfront parking garage was completed in the fall of 2010, commensurate with the opening of the Yum Center Arena. The 8 story garage has approximately 900 parking spaces, loading dock, storage building, connector building to the Waterfront Plaza and an elevated pedestrian bridge across 3rd Street to the Arena.
The garage is a cast in place post-tension concrete structure supported by auger cast piles. A combination of shear walls and moment frames are used to resist wind and seismic loads. Except for the 3rd street entrance the garage is enclosed on 4 sides by existing structures. Egress is provided from all adjoining structures. Pile cap foundations bridge existing timber pile foundations that remain from a demolished LG&E substation. The project was completed on time and under budget.
